neuromore Studio
Setup
Installation
Section titled “Installation”Install neuromore Studio on Windows, macOS or Ubuntu, then log in with your neuromore account.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Account
Section titled “Account”neuromore Studio requires a neuromore account. You sign in when Studio starts, and there is no offline mode. You can create a free community account. Studio sends session details to the neuromore cloud when a session ends. Whether physiological data is uploaded depends on your account. See the Privacy Policy.
Commercial clients can have their own instance of the neuromore cloud, deployed in their own cloud account, and their own neuromore account. Contact neuromore or see the Platform page.
The login window has no sign-up option, so create your account first. You need an internet connection to log in.
System requirements
Section titled “System requirements”| What | Minimum |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10, Ubuntu 20.04, macOS 10.15 |

| RAM | 4 GB |
| GPU | OpenGL 2.x compatible |

Intel 64-bit builds need a CPU released after about 2010, with SSE4.2, AVX and other modern instructions. ARM builds support ARMv7-a (32 bit) and ARMv8-a (64 bit).
Download
Section titled “Download”Community builds are published on GitHub releases. The latest public release is 1.7.3, with packages for Windows, macOS and Ubuntu. You can also build from source. The public source does not yet include every 1.8.2 change.
Commercial clients get builds in a different way, usually a custom build arranged with neuromore. Contact neuromore.
Choose the package for your system:
| System | Package | Architectures |
|---|---|---|
| Windows 10 or later | Studio- |
x64, x86, arm64 |
| macOS 10.15 or later | Studio- |
Universal |
| Ubuntu 22.04 | Studio- |
amd64, arm64, armhf, i386 |
| Ubuntu 20.04 | Studio- |
amd64, arm64, armhf, i386 |
Most Windows and Ubuntu PCs use x64 or amd64.
1.8.2 packages: 1.8.2 is not publicly released yet. Its build scripts name packages
NMStudio-1.8.2-...and produce a.dmgfor macOS instead of a.pkg. Linux packages are built on Ubuntu 22.04. Ubuntu installs the same way as 1.7.3. Windows also uses an.msi. On macOS, open the.dmgand drag neuromore Studio to Applications.
Windows
Section titled “Windows”- Download the
.msifor your architecture. - Double-click the
.msiand approve the Windows prompt if one appears. Studio installs into aneuromore Studiofolder under Program Files. The installer has no folder choice. - Start Studio from the Start Menu. The entry is named after your architecture, for example
neuromore Studio (x64). The installer does not start Studio for you and does not add a desktop shortcut.
The installer adds a Windows Firewall rule for Studio that applies to private networks. On a network set to Public, you may have to allow Studio through Windows Firewall yourself.
- Download the
.pkg. - Double-click the
.pkgand follow the installer. It installs neuromore Studio into/Applications. - Start neuromore Studio from Applications.
-
Download the
.debfor your Ubuntu version and architecture. -
Install it from the download folder, with your file name:
sudo apt install ./Studio-1.7.3-ubuntu-22.04-amd64.deb -
Start neuromore Studio from your applications menu, or run
NMStudioin a terminal. The menu entry also opens a terminal window.
Logging in
Section titled “Logging in”Each time Studio starts, it checks for a newer version (see Updating). It then shows the login window, unless a login is saved on this computer.
- In User ID or Email, enter your neuromore user ID or email address.
- In Password, enter your password. If you forgot it, click Forgot password? to open the reset page in your browser.
- Choose whether to keep Remember Me on. It is on by default.
- Click Log in.
With Remember Me on, your login is saved on this computer and Studio logs you in at the next start. Use Remember Me only on a computer you trust. On a shared computer, clear the checkbox before you click Log in.
If a login fails, including when Studio cannot reach the neuromore cloud, Studio removes the saved login and shows the login window again.
In 1.8.2, small grey text in the bottom corner of the login window shows the address of the server Studio connects to.
In 1.7.3: The login window does not show the server address.
First start
Section titled “First start”The first time you log in, Studio shows the licence agreement. Click I Agree to continue. Cancel closes Studio.
Licensing: see neuromore Licensing, the Terms & Conditions, the End User Agreement and the Privacy Policy.
With a community account, a product tour starts after you type your login. It does not start when Studio logs you in with a saved login. To run it at any time, choose Help > Product tour.
Logging out
Section titled “Logging out”Choose NMStudio > Log out and confirm. Studio removes the saved login from this computer, closes, and tries to restart. At the next start you need to log in again.
Studio does not check for a running session or unsaved work before it closes. Save your work and end any session first.
Updating
Section titled “Updating”Studio has no in-app updater. To update, install the newer package over the current one:
- Windows: run the newer
.msifor the same architecture. It replaces the installed version. The installer refuses to replace a later version with an older one. - macOS: run the newer
.pkg. For a 1.8.2.dmg, open it and drag neuromore Studio to Applications, replacing the old copy. - Linux: install the newer
.debwithsudo apt install, as above.
If the neuromore cloud reports a newer version than yours, Studio shows an OUT OF DATE message with both version numbers and closes when you click OK. You can’t log in until you update. The message points to the User Portal. Community builds are on GitHub releases. If you find no newer package there, or you are a commercial client, contact neuromore.
Moving from 1.7.3 to 1.8.2 can change the values your protocols produce. See What changed since 1.7.3 before you update.
